03 Concept Brainstorming

We let loose and brainstormed over 60 concepts, which we then grouped into the following statements. From these statements, we then began sketching out scenarios.

Reminder/Encouragement: I need to be reminded and encouraged to do physical activities.
Control: I don’t want a thing to dictate my life. I want to set my own goals.
Parents: I want to feel like a good parent.
Family Status: I need to know about my family member’s activity status.
Privacy: I am not willing to share the details of my health with others.
Rewards: I need to be rewarded for my good activity. I need to feel good about it.

Index Card Brainstorming

We wrote the concepts on index cards, and put them up on the board so we could easily view and rearrange them as needed.

Concept Index Cards

The concepts ranged from mild to extreme, with several "of course" ideas such as activity monitoring, and some "we're not really going to do that" ideas such as chairs that shock users when they have been too lazy.

Extreme Concepts

From concepts to scenarios

From these concepts, we grouped them into categories, and eventually created 9 scenarios that addressed the various themes to use for the concept validation.

Below are some whiteboard sketches of some initial scenario ideas.
