Welcome! This site documents our team's final project for the Masters of Human-Computer Interaction Methods class here at Carnegie Mellon.
Our team worked for an entire semester on researching and prototyping a social community website for managing a book collection online. Here we will describe the site that we designed, the prototype we built, and the process we followed to get there.
But more than simply showing off our design, we want to share with you our vision for a new model of online collecting. It's a vision of a collection where members of a community work together to build relationships and have control over what knowledge and expertise they share as well as their "sliding anonymity". It's a vision of a collection that more fully takes advantage of today's online social technologies.
We built a prototype of an online book collecion website to demonstrate several key design concepts that reinforce our vision for online collecting. Please browse through this site to see what we've been working on. We hope you enjoy it!
